What I had read about this book or saw in these 70 pages is about his history by learning and adventure to discover new things which interest him on creating these materials for other to use. This was something I think is very interest because when he attend school he was a loner kind of like me but which doesn’t matter because I can live with being a loner it just more peaceful and I can relax more often. Also, he went through a lot of adventures and settle in to start creating his shop for mountain gears, and created more by upgrade is to be more stronger and reliable. I notice that he was just living in his van and creating these in a shed and then creating some big today for everyone to use and buy. This was interesting that I get to understand that I son’t need to be smart or rich to create something for the world to use because what I see many famous products that are made, was made by average human beings like me. Understanding this can help me and maybe other to realize that we all can start somewhere and then create something useful to sell and make a profit. This chapter of this book was nice to read and can really bring me into it because of all the experience he went through to be able to create something like this and made is a company that sell stuff he made with his employees and friends.

This environmental issues is still a problem today. People litter everywhere which can cause a lot of damage wild animals. Everyday garbage in being pushed into the oceans which kills many of sea creatures and other land creatures such as birds. This is situation now is getting better because now there are teams that helps clean the ocean and clean the cities around them. This situation doesn’t only happen in the US it is also a problem to other countries too. This is very interesting to me because I also help clean my city by do community service. I saw many social media groups that are preventing this by cleaning the oceans, which can help sea creatures from getting tangled and killed. I used pathos and logos in the meme that I created. I want the audience to know that if they don’t have anything to do at home, they should join a club or do some community service to help prevent waste, garbage, and etc. The pathos I used in the meme was, preventing waste can save innocent creatures. The logos I used is the littering of garbage which now is still a problem that need to be fix. This meme is trying to send a message to all humans to pick up after yourself even if it’s just a little trash, is still good enough because now it won’t get push to the oceans or the streets etc, and it can safe a lot of sea and land animals.

1. What I have taken away from rhetoric is that people used it in ads and videos. Also there are three parts of rhetoric which are ethos, logos, and pathos. The speech I read was about Steve Jobs, which have many ethos presented to his audiences. What I can tell you about rhetoric is that it is something we people use almost everyday. 
2. I think this is related to critical thinking and reading because rhetorical needs a lot of thinking to come up with something to get the attention of the audience and also when the audience read the article/speech they will have something that can persuade them.

I don’t really know or understand what is rhetorical analysis, but I know that people use it mostly everyday with even knowing. I am not a really smart person when it comes to analyzing words that contain rhetoric. People used it all the time, in ads, videos, movies, and outside. I have seen many of these rhetoric in ads which sometimes gets my attention and some which I don’t really care to understand. These had been use in social media or donations videos to persuade the audiences for help which works because people understand it.
In this world we live on we all can find rhetorical activity because all people in different places is using it. I learnt there is three types of rhetorical analysis which is pathos, logos, and ethos. These three types are just something to gets people attention by using these individually or together. Collecting facts for people to understand the argument of something, having stats of facts to prove that it’s right or wrong. Sometimes they are short and are used in 30 seconds videos to try to persuade parents, students, kids, etc., and it also have to give the audiences something the can relate or something that is emotional.

Artist tried to use rhetoric by showing it in their artwork . Some artists want to show the audience that their art piece show some kind of emotions that can pull in the audience to dive in deeper into their art work. The artist appeal is of course pathos showing the audiences emotions.

The article I pick was The Aloha Shirt: “Spirit of the Islands,” because arts is something that I am interested in and this is a good article for me to study and understand how a shirt in Hawaii that became one of the best souvenir in history. As I read the article I learned that there was a long history about this aloha shirt, the origin of the idea, and how it became a enduring souvenir for tourist and tailors etc. But I was interested in the art not the history and I read that this shirt was made by a fabric materials and was colorful, which catches people interest because it tells a history of Hawaiians. Also the art that was sew on the shirt was just cool and colorful. I also learnt that these shirts was sold very cheap during that time period so people can afford it and buy it as an souvenir. The Aloha shirt was very popular for tourist who visit Hawaii and by US navy. Which by the increasing visitors of the US Navy the souvenir grew and as the article shows, “The word “aloha” was used in connection with many products advertised in shop windows and newspaper advertisements.” This is something everyone can learn from and create a idea and expand it so more people from different worlds will be familiar with the object or product. This shows something that was created that was just to sell for couple cents became one of the best souvenir in Hawaii.

Academic writing is a demonstration of our knowledge and skills to think, present, and interpret the writing. As we know people have different ways of writing their essay or response because not all people have the same writing skills. So the article tells us that taking this will help us achieve an better way of understanding of presenting your writing skills. So what is the difference between the writing assignment in high school and college, there was a study of student writing in college, which was perform by “Lee Ann Carroll, a professor in Pepperdine University.” Which shows, “in college typically require knowledge of research skills, ability to read complex texts, understanding of key disciplinary concepts, and strategies for synthesizing, analyzing, and responding critically to new information, usually within a limited time frame.”(Irvin, Pg.7). Therefore, for us to be able to understand the knowledge of academic writing we need the requirements of these skills to be able to brighten our presentations in our writings.
